A road accident left one dead and two injured in Gaspé on Sunday afternoon.

Emergency services were called around 3:30 p.m. for a collision that occurred between a van and a car at the intersection of rue Fontenelle and boulevard de Saint-Majorique, in Gaspé.

Following the impact, the two vehicles found themselves in the ditch. The man driving the car and who was alone on board succumbed to his injuries.

According to initial information gathered by the Sûreté du Québec (SQ), he was on rue Fontenelle and entered boulevard de Saint-Majorique while the van, with two people on board, was traveling north.

The road was closed until at 6:15 p.m.

A police collision investigator went to the scene to establish the exact causes and circumstances of the accident.
