Sûreté du Québec divers search at the Saint-François River in Drummondville
Sûreté du Québec (SQ) divers recovered a body from the Saint-François River on Wednesday around 2:20 p.m. in Drummondville. It is a male in his thirties, but the identity has still not been established.
The SQ stresses that the investigation is continuing to try to establish the circumstances of the death.
The police force had received a call from a citizen around 8 p.m. Tuesday claiming that a person had fallen into the water and was near a buoy, near of the Sainte-Thérèse church.
The police and firefighters then went to the scene. They [had] unfortunately located no one, explains SQ spokesperson Louis-Philippe Ruel.
Police then toured the neighborhood to check whether someone was missing or if someone had witnessed the event. Again, it turned out to be negative, adds Agent Ruel.
Researches are ongoing course Wednesday to check if a person is not in the Saint-François river in Drummondville.
The police had nevertheless started a search, despite the lack of information .
