A corpse found in a burned house in Sorel-Tracy

Two people were arrested in the vicinity shortly after the fire was reported.

The body of one person was found shortly before midnight , Sunday evening, in a burnt house in Sorel-Tracy.

At dawn on Monday, the Sûreté du Québec (SQ) was not yet able to confirm the person's gender and identity. The house is located on Turcotte Street.

The exact circumstances of the fire were not yet known. However, police officers from the Sûreté du Québec proceeded shortly after the report of the fire to arrest two people in the vicinity.

A security perimeter was created by the police near a car at the corner of Carignan and Goupil streets.

On it is not known if the death of the person was caused by the fire or by an assault of which he may have been the victim.

The two arrested persons must be questioned by the police later so that investigators can shed more light on what happened.

Fire scene technicians were already at work Monday morning to examine the rubble of the house on rue Turcotte, which is located in an area residential.
