A man dies following the accident of a van in Lanaudière
Investigators went to the scene to clarify the circumstances that led to this accident.
An accident involving a van in which were eight people cost the life of a young man, Saturday morning, in Saint-Michel-des-Saints, in Lanaudière.
According to information from the Sûreté du Québec (SQ), the driver of the van lost control of the vehicle around 11 a.m. while traveling on Manawan Road .
He was arrested by police and may face impaired driving charges causing death.
En addition to the deceased young man, six other people were transported to a hospital, but their lives are not believed to be in danger.
Several people were not seated safely , as provided for by the Highway Safety Code, on board the vehicle, said agent Nicolas Scholtus, spokesman for the SQ.
When the police were called to the scene, the young man who lost his life was in critical condition. A medical helicopter was dispatched to the scene to transport him to the hospital.
