Police officers from the Sûreté du Québec (SQ) arrested the driver of a stolen truck on Tuesday evening, after a pursuit in several township municipalities.
It was around 9:15 p.m. that the police stopped the 55-year-old man for speeding at the wheel of a lorry loaded with wood in the MRC des Sources, confirms the SQ.
The driver, known to the police, then refused to stop. He even tried to run into the police, who chased him in Saint-Georges-de-Windsor and Danville. The heavyweight eventually ended up in a cul-de-sac in Val-des-Sources, which allowed the police to arrest the man.
The police learned that the vehicle was reported stolen, then made a short pursuit. We are talking about forty kilometers. It ended in Val-des-Sources, when the suspect tried to flee on foot. The police managed to get hold of him, said SQ spokesman Louis-Philippe Ruel.
The suspect remains detained until his appearance. In particular, he faces charges of armed assault against police officers, dangerous driving and concealment.
