A Russian hot air balloon was spotted in the Kyiv region. The Ukrainian Armed Forces explained why the occupiers are launching them

On the afternoon of February 15, an unknown object was recorded in the sky over the Kiev region. Yuriy Ignat, the speaker of the Air Force Command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, told about the object in question on the air of the telethon.

According to him, the unknown object is not a probe or a balloon. So, we are talking about a ball that was carrying a piece of metal.

«This is a ball that was released on the 12th. And he flew over the territory of other states. Wherever the wind blows, there it flies. The diameter may vary. It is filled with gas, flies up. Attached to the cord is that corner reflector. The radar station, of course, detects him in the air, he fights off the receiver. This is an aerial target»», – said Ignat.

The speaker added that the Russians launch such objects in order to divert attention. The enemy seeks to ensure that the Ukrainian side spends air defense assets on the destruction of such objects.
