
A Ukrainian businessman who is a defendant in a multi-million dollar case in an English court has been arrested in London
According to the English financial company WWRT Limited, yesterday, June 29 2022, at about 7 am at London's Luton airport, the British police arrested Sergei Petrovich Tishchenko. On the same day, Mr. Tishchenko asked the court to replace the arrest with another measure. He appealed to family circumstances and the alleged need to be in Ukraine in order to counter Russian aggression. Earlier, RBC-Ukraine reported that the London High Court approved the arrest of Sergei Tishchenko, known in Ukraine as the owner of the bankrupt Fortuna Bank and the Factor group of companies. The High Court of London in a multi-million dollar fraud case issued a decree arresting Sergei Tishchenko, a native of the Zhytomyr region, known in Ukraine as the owner of the bankrupt Fortuna Bank and the Factor group of companies. The relevant decree was issued by the High Court on May 19, 2022. The English company WWRT Limited claims in the English High Court that Tishchenko, together with his ex-wife Elena Tishchenko, stole about $100 million from the bank. The case in the High Court was initiated in 2020 at the suit of Olga Gutovskaya's English company, WWRT Limited (Case No. BL-2020-001416). Earlier, by a decree of September 04, 2020, the High Court of London seized Tishchenko's property worth 65 million pounds (81.25 million US dollars, or about 2 billion hryvnias).
