About 4,000 Belarusian soldiers are stationed on the border of Ukraine, not counting the Russians
Up to seven Belarusian battalions numbering up to four thousand people are on the border between Belarus and Ukraine. This was announced on the air of the national telethon “United News” on June 21 by the speaker of the Ministry of Defense Alexander Motuzyanyk. – There are now up to seven Belarusian battalions on the border in the Brest and Gomel regions. This is up to four thousand personnel. But we must understand that there are Russian troops there as well. I won’t say their number, but there are a number of settlements where they are stationed, – said the representative of the department. Motuzyanyk noted that, given that the Belarusian side provides Russia with all the logistics, it is quite possible that the Russians will be able to quickly transfer additional reserves to the territory of Belarus and prepare an offensive. For a new offensive from the territory of Belarus, it is necessary to create powerful offensive force. Now Ukraine does not see it. – We have already seen this in the first weeks of a full-scale Russian invasion. It was precisely because of the unfriendly actions of the Belarusian Republic that Russia so quickly found itself in the vicinity of Kyiv. But then a very powerful group was created. We don’t see such a grouping now. At the same time, this forces the Ukrainian side to keep troops on the border with Belarus. – We understand very well that as soon as we withdraw units from there, they can carry out a re-attack. In the short term, we do not see this, but we are forced to strengthen this direction, – said Motuzyanyk. Today, the Belarusian army has more than 60 thousand people and will be increased by almost 20 thousand due to the creation of the southern operational command. On June 20, advisers to the head of the President's Office Aleksey Arestovich and Mikhail Podolyak recorded a video on the topic of a possible attack on Ukraine from Belarus. Arestovich said that “in the near future” there is no need to be afraid of this. On June 16, NSDC Secretary Aleksey Danilov said that President Volodymyr Zelensky had instructed to check four regions in case of a second invasion from Belarus.
