Air Force Commander Calls on NATO Colleagues to Form an Air Coalition
On March 16, Commander of the Air Force of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Lieutenant-General Mykola Oleshchuk, took part in an online symposium of air force commanders of NATO member countries. This was reported by the press service of the Armed Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Oleshchuk briefly informed his colleagues about the current situation in the main areas of hostilities and noted the need to build up Ukraine's air defense, both its ground and air components.
«Gentlemen, commanders, I am glad to take part in this meeting today and thank everyone for supporting Ukraine at this difficult time. At the same time, I appeal to you with a request to increase efforts to provide the Ukrainian Air Force with modern fourth-generation multi-role fighters capable of effectively protecting our state from Russian air terrorist attacks, as well as to provide powerful air support to ground forces for the liberation and de-occupation of Ukrainian territories» ;, — Oleshchuk said.
He also added that only joint, coordinated actions of partners can help Ukraine get Western multi-purpose aircraft as soon as possible. Oleshchuk noted that a tank coalition is an example of achieving this goal.
«I would like to get your support and call for the creation of an air coalition under the slogan «Victory on the ground — forged in the sky!» — he emphasized.
