The Banco Agrícola (Bagrícola) reported today that the first batch of RD $ 1,250 million entered the institution's account , of the RD $ 5,000 million arranged by President Luis Abinader to lend at zero rate to agricultural producers, in an effort to relaunch the peasant economy.
“We already have in the bank account the first disbursement of RD $ 1,250 million,” said the administrator of Bagrícola, Fernando Durán, during a meeting with representatives of the horticultural associations of the Constanza Valley and medium producers of the La Culata and Tireo, in La Vega province.
” The idea is that in the next six months we have been able to place those RD $ 5,000 million at zero rate in support of the productive activities of the agricultural sector,” said the official, during the activity in which representatives of the National Union of Producers also participated. He said that producers interested in accessing these resources must submit their requests at one of the 64 branches and agencies that the Banco Agrícola de la República Dominicana has in the national territory, where it is analyzed and served.
“A specialized staff from Bagrícola is in charge of evaluating, supervising, and channeling the loan for each producer in their work area,” said Durán. During the meeting, in which he was accompanied by the Minister of Agriculture, Limber Cruz and others. officials from the agricultural sector.
He added that the only requirements to access this financing are to be a known agricultural producer , to have own agricultural or livestock properties, leased or transferred, being necessary, in the last two cases, to have lease contracts or the corresponding authorization, duly formalized .
He explained that these resources should be used in investment projects, including the acquisition of capital goods for agricultural mechanization, rehabilitation of greenhouses, solar energy systems and post-harvest management, such as drying and curing of tobacco, onion, cocoa and rice.
He expressed that they may also be used in the construction, purchase or repair of facilities associated with production and projects that contribute to the insertion of young people into rural productive activity.
