
Battalion commander of the 80th brigade of the Airborne Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine died in the Bakhmut area
< p> On Monday, March 6, as a result of shelling in the city of Chasov Yar, Donetsk region, the commander of the airmobile battalion of the 80th separate airborne assault brigade, Major Andrey Lukanyuk, was killed. This is stated in the message of the 80th brigade on Facebook.
“We are sad to announce that on March 6, during the performance of a combat mission in the village of Chasov Yar, Bakhmut district, Donetsk region, as a result of enemy artillery shelling of the KNP (command and observation post), the commander of the airmobile battalion, Major Andrey Valeryevich Lukanyuk, was killed,” the report says.
The brigade noted that Lukanyuk “was a respected officer, he was a real example of military prowess and Glory.”
34-year-old Andrei Lukanyuk comes from the village of Gody-Dobrovidka, Kolomyia district, Ivano-Frankivsk region. Since 2013, he actively participated in the formation of the 3rd battalion tactical group of the 80th separate air assault brigade. Since 2014, he has been performing combat missions as a company commander. He took part in the battles for the Luhansk airport, Debaltseve, Krasnohorovka, Shirokino.
In 2022, Major Lukanyuk led the airmobile battalion of the 80th separate air assault brigade.
