Bild: Zelensky and Zaluzhny had disagreements over Bakhmut
Mezhdu President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valery Zaluzhny disagreed over the situation in Bakhmut, fighting for which has been going on since the summer of 2022. Bild writes about this, citing sources in the political leadership of the country.
Insiders report that General Zaluzny is interested in protecting his fighters as much as possible, in connection with which a discussion arose about what to do with Bakhmut. According to the publication, a few weeks ago, the commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine recommended that they think about retreating from the city in order to reduce the losses of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
“The vast majority of soldiers in Bakhmut do not understand why the city is being held. The guys in Bakhmut ask themselves: what is the strategy? Why should we dig in when the enemy surrounds us?” – said a military analyst in a conversation with Bild.
Another interlocutor of the publication noted that in the beginning Bakhmut was a trap for the occupiers, but now he has turned into a trap for Ukraine – despite the fact that, according to him It is estimated that for every Ukrainian soldier killed, there are seven Russian dead.
“The troops should have been withdrawn three weeks ago when the Russians took Krasnaya Gora,” he said.
Supporters of the defense of Bakhmut believe that when leaving the city, similar heavy battles will begin in other settlements. “The goal is to prevent the Russians from advancing and at the same time inflict the heaviest losses on them.”
- According to the WSJ, the goal of the Wagner terrorist PMC was not so much to capture Bakhmut, how much exhaustion of the Ukrainian military.
