British intelligence estimated the impact of Russian strikes on the Karachunov and Pecheneg dams

< p>Russian missile strikes on Karachunovskaya and Pechenezhskaya dams are unlikely to cause significant difficulties for the Ukrainian armed forces. This is stated in the intelligence message of the UK Department of Defense.

The agency recalled that on September 21 and 22, Russia attacked the Pecheneg dam on the Seversky Donets River using short-range ballistic missiles or similar weapons. This happened after the strike on the Karachunovskaya dam near Krivoy Rog on September 15, 2022.

«Ukrainian forces are moving forward along both rivers. As Russian commanders become increasingly concerned about their operational failures, they are likely trying to hit dam locks to flood Ukrainian military checkpoints. These attacks are unlikely to have caused significant disruption to Ukrainian operations due to the distance between the damaged dams and the combat zones»,— notes British intelligence.
