British intelligence: Due to the political pressure of the Russian Federation, unsuccessfully advancing on Bakhmut instead of strengthening the flanks

British intelligence: Failed to attack Bakhmut instead of strengthening flanks due to Russian political pressure

Ukrainian servicemen stepped up their offensive in the north-east of the country, while the Russian invaders strengthened the defense of the Lugansk region at the same time as unsuccessful attempts to attack Bakhmut. This is stated in the intelligence report of the British Department of Defense.

According to intelligence, the Armed Forces of Ukraine are slowly advancing in at least two directions east of the line of the Oskol and Seversky Donets rivers, where forces were consolidated after the offensive at the beginning of the month .

For its part, Russia is beefing up its defenses more significantly, probably because the Ukrainian offensive threatens parts of the Luhansk region amid the completion of the «referendum» about its accession to the Russian Federation.

The defense department adds that heavy fighting continues in the Kherson region, where Russian forces on the right bank of the Dnieper remain vulnerable. At the same time, the Russian occupiers continue unsuccessful attempts to advance in the Bakhmut area in the Donbass, even despite heavy pressure on the northern and southern flanks.

Intelligence suggests that this is due to political pressure, since Russia uses forces that are in otherwise, they could strengthen other flanks.
