British intelligence: Iranian Shahed-136 drones will not help Russia achieve its goals

Iranian kamikaze drones Shahed-136 will not help Russia achieve its goals. This is stated in the intelligence report of the UK Department of Defense.

According to intelligence, the Russian Federation began using Iranian drones at least from August, and also used them during massive missile attacks on Ukraine's infrastructure on October 10.

These drones are slow and low-flying, making them easy to target with conventional air defenses. Despite a claimed range of 2,500 km, the Shahed-136 has only a small explosive load. It is unlikely that it will satisfactorily perform the deep-strike function for which Russia was probably seeking to use it.

The British Ministry of Defense also notes that Russian aircraft still have «limited effect» over the territory of Ukraine, and the lack of a stable and accurate strike potential is most likely one of the main problems in the capabilities of the occupiers.
