< p>Russian terrorist group «Wagner» continues to play an important role in protracted battles near the city of Bakhmut, Donetsk region. This is stated in the intelligence report of the British Department of Defense.
According to intelligence data, in recent months «Wagnerians» developed an offensive tactic that uses large numbers of poorly trained convicts. It is assumed that individual fighters are issued a smartphone or tablet with commercial satellite images, which indicate the axis of advance and the target of the attack.
Individual groups and units are ordered to follow a pre-planned route, often with fire support, but less often &# 8212; along with armored vehicles. Meanwhile, commanders at platoon level and above remain in cover and issue orders by radio. It is also possible that fighters who deviate from the route of attack are threatened with execution.
«This brutal tactic is aimed at preserving «Wagner»s rare assets» in the form of experienced commanders and armored vehicles at the expense of more accessible prisoner recruits, whom the organization considers expendable», — the message says.
