Chief of the Russian General Staff and recently appointed commander of the occupation forces in Ukraine Valery Gerasimov began his work by improving daily discipline in the troops. This is stated in the intelligence report of the British Department of Defense.
It is reported that with the arrival of Gerasimov, the Russian army began to deal with deviations from the standards in military uniform, the movement of military personnel in civilian cars, the use of mobile phones and « non-standard hairstyles».
Intelligence notes that the corresponding measures were received with skepticism. The biggest criticism came from attempts to improve the shaving standards of soldiers. Representatives of the occupying authorities in the terrorist «DNR» called these priorities & # 171; a farce, and the leader of the PMC & # 171; Wagner & # 187; Yevgeny Prigozhin criticized the military leadership, saying that «war — a time of active and courageous, not shaved».
In addition, it was noted that the occupying forces continue to face operational stalemate and heavy losses. That Gerasimov prioritizes largely secondary regulations is likely to confirm the fears of many of his skeptics in Russia.
«He, like Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu, is increasingly perceived as a person divorced from reality and focused on demonstrative elements, rather than providing real content»,— noted in intelligence.
