Bulgaria expels 70 employees of the Russian Embassy who turned out to be spies

70 employees who were engaged in espionage were exposed at the Russian Embassy in Bulgaria. As a result, the country's authorities announced the expulsion of diplomats to their homeland. This is reported by “BGNES”.

– These are 70 people, they were in different positions. All are diplomats of the Russian embassy. Our services identified them as people who were largely associated with their services and acted against the interests of our country. This is not aggression against the Russian people – just when foreign governments try to interfere in the internal affairs of Bulgaria, we have clear institutions that will counteract, – said Bulgarian Prime Minister Kirill Petkov.

According to him, most of The exiled Russians worked directly for foreign intelligence services, and their diplomatic role was a cover.

– On Sunday we expect a plane with 70 seats, which will go to Moscow, the head of the Bulgarian government emphasized.

This is not the first such case in Bulgaria. In early March, two Russian diplomats were expelled from the country, and another 10 were declared persona non grata by the Bulgarian Foreign Ministry. All of them also engaged in espionage.
