The trainings will take place in the facilities of the Miami Marlins academy, located in the municipality of Guerra.
With a view to preparing for the 2020-21 season of the Dominican Republic Professional Baseball League (LIDOM), the Leones del Escogido will open their “Early Camp” on Thursday, October 22.
The operations management of the club reported that the “Early Camp” will begin with the report of the players and the staff to the concentration hotel on the same day 22, for the next day to undergo COVID-19 tests and start entering the protocol of the LIDOM.
Immediately after the tests are passed, the Lions will start their “Early Camp” with 42 players at the Miami Marlins academy, located in the municipality of San Antonio de Guerra.
The practices will be divided into two groups until the first day of November when a second group of players will enter for the “Full Camp”, where they will remain divided to guarantee social distancing.
On Sunday, November 8, the team will move to the capital, where they will definitely concentrate on the hotel where the players will be staying during the regular season.
The “Early Camp” trainings will be directed by the Bench Coach, Ramón Santiago, by the Field Coordinator, Gilbert Gómez, and the pitching instructor, Erick Abreu. Manager Dave Jauss will arrive in the country on October 27 to perform his isolation and testing protocol. Subsequently overcome, will assume the reins of the team.
This year, the Lions will have a pool of 50 players at all times, concentrating players and staff in one place, as recommended by the Health and Safety Protocol of LIDOM and Major League Baseball.
The Dominican autumn-winter season is scheduled to start next Sunday, November 15.
