CNN: Allies advise Ukraine to switch from Bakhmut to the south
Allies urge Ukraine to leave fighting for the town of Bakhmut in the Donetsk region, and switch to a potential offensive in the south, US and Ukrainian officials told CNN.
«US and Western officials urge Ukraine to shift its focus from months of vicious fighting in the eastern city of Bakhmut to a potential offensive in the south, using a different style of warfare that would take advantage of the billions of dollars of new military equipment recently acquired by Western allies»,— the material says.
It is reported that for almost 6 months Ukrainian defenders have been going «toe-to-toe» with the Russians in the Bakhmut direction. As a result of intense shelling, the city is almost completely destroyed.
«This is a brutal and exhausting battle», — said a senior Western intelligence official.
He also added that each side is exchanging 100 — 400 meters of land per day and exchanges several thousand artillery rounds almost daily.
- According to ISW analysts, Prigozhin is losing credibility in Putin's eyes because of the failures at Bakhmut.
