In the Armed Forces of Ukraine there are no fire weapons capable of shooting down the type of missiles that the invaders used yesterday to fire at a residential building in the Dnieper. This was stated by the commander of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Lieutenant General Mykola Oleshchuk.
«On January 14, 2023, five X-22 cruise missiles were fired from five Tu-22m3 long-range bombers of the Russian Aerospace Forces on the territory of Ukraine. The launches were carried out from the Kursk region and from the Sea of Azov. One of the Kh-22 missiles, launched from the Kursk region at about 3 p.m. 30 minutes. January 14, 2023, got into a high-rise building in the city of Dnipro (on Pobeda Embankment street) & # 187;, & # 8212; Oleshchuk writes.
He noted that the approximate launch site, altitude and speed of the missile were detected by radar means. The commander emphasized that there is no doubt that it was the Kh-22 missile.
«The Armed Forces of Ukraine do not have weapons capable of shooting down this type of missile. Since the beginning of Russia's military aggression on the territory of Ukraine, more than 210 missiles of this type have been fired. None — not shot down by anti-aircraft defenses & # 187;, & # 8212; he clarified.
Oleshchuk added that the mass of the Kh-22 warhead — about 950 kg. The maximum range is up to 600 km. When used from long distances, the deviation from the target can be hundreds of meters.
«Only anti-aircraft missile systems, which in the future can be provided to Ukraine by Western partners (we are talking about such systems as Patriot PAC-3 or SAMP-T), capable of intercepting these air targets & # 187;, & # 8212; Oleshchuk explained.
