Danilov stated that Nevzorov has not yet received Ukrainian citizenship

Russian journalist Alexander Nevzorov applied for Ukrainian citizenship, but has not yet received it. Oleksiy Danilov, Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council, stated this in an interview with Channel 24.

– Oleksandr Nevzorov does not yet have Ukrainian citizenship. He only applied to get it, – said Danilov.

As the Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council noted, that in order to obtain citizenship of Ukraine, any citizen must go through a certain procedure, getting rid of the existing citizenship of another country.

– If you want to get our citizenship, you have to go through a certain procedure… We have only one citizenship. First you need to get rid of the citizenship of the country that you currently have. This applies to both Nevzorov and any person from the planet Earth who would like to receive our citizenship. There is a procedure,” he said.

Russian opposition journalist Alexander Nevzorov and his wife Lydia have openly condemned the actions of the Kremlin since the beginning of Russia's invasion of Ukraine. Then the Russian Prosecutor General's Office of Russia opened a criminal case against the journalist and blocked his personal website. At the end of May, Advisor to the Minister of Internal Affairs Anton Gerashchenko announced that the Nevzorovs, by decree of President Vladimir Zelensky, received Ukrainian citizenship for “outstanding services to our country.”
