At least 1,000 civilians have died in the city since Russia seized Izyum in the Kharkiv region. This was announced during a briefing by the deputy of the Izyum City Council Maxim Strelnikov, Media Center reports.
«As throughout the occupied territory, the Russians committed war crimes and tried to hide them. At least a thousand local residents died as a result of hostilities. But we believe that even more people suffered because the occupiers destroyed all healthcare facilities. Access to the medicine was limited. The Russians plundered all pharmacies & # 187;, & # 8212; he said.
Strelnikov added that at the moment, in the liberated Izyum, the issue of providing medicines and hospitalization of seriously ill and wounded is acute. According to preliminary data, now about 10 thousand civilians remain in the city.
Among other things, the deputy said that as a result of Russian aggression, more than 80% of Izyum's infrastructure was destroyed. In addition, the centralized heating system was broken.
