The ex-mayor of Kyiv Chernovetsky was informed of suspicion due to calls to recognize the "LNR"

The prosecutor's office reported suspicions to the former mayor of Kyiv, Leonid Chernovetsky, who publicly called for the recognition of the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine as the so-called “Donetsk and Lugansk people's republics.” This was reported by the press service of the Office of the Prosecutor General.

– The day after the start of the military aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine, the ex-mayor of the capital posted a publication on his Facebook page about the possibility and even the need to recognize borders terrorist organizations – illegal formations “Donetsk people's republic” and “Luhansk people's republic”, – the prosecutor's office reported.

As noted in the department, the results of a linguistic examination showed that Chernovetsky's publication contains public calls to change the boundaries of the territory and state border of Ukraine.

On this fact, the ex-mayor of the capital was handed a suspicion under Part 1 of Art. 110 of the Criminal Code “Infringement on the territorial integrity and inviolability of Ukraine”. The sanction of this article provides for punishment in the form of imprisonment for a period of 3 to 5 years with or without confiscation of property.

We are talking about Leonid Chernovetsky, who served as mayor of Kyiv from 2006 to 2012 . In Ukraine, a criminal case is already underway against him. In 2017, he was informed of suspicion in a criminal case on the fact of the illegal construction of a helipad on the Park Road in Kyiv. Then the court gave permission for his arrest, but the politician is not at home. Chernovetsky lives abroad. According to media reports, he is in Israel.
