Ex-North Vancouver teacher arrested for sexual assault

The alleged events allegedly occurred when the now 82-year-old man was teaching at Upper Lynn Valley Elementary School in North Vancouver between 1970 and 1982.

An 82-year-old man has been arrested after allegations of sexual assault dating back to the 1970s when he was a teacher, according to the North Vancouver Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP).

< p class="e-p">They specify that the teacher, now retired, could face several counts of a sexual assaults involving people who were his students.

The police have not released the identity of the man because he has not been officially charged, but say that he taught at Upper Lynn Valley Elementary in North Vancouver between 1970 and 1982. Other assaults also allegedly occurred after he quit teaching in 1982.

He was arrested at his home in North Vancouver on Thursday and police had a search warrant to look for evidence at his home.

An initial complaint had was filed in mid-June and other alleged victims have since come forward. Police say alleged victims communicated with each other via social media.

RCMP believe there may be more victims and urge anyone targeted to come forward .

No allegation has yet been proven in court.
