The driver of the second vehicle left the scene before police arrived, according to the RCMP.
An accident believed by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) to be linked to a case of road rage has sent a family of five to hospital in Carstairs.
According to the RCMP, the incident took place shortly after 4 p.m. Saturday on Highway 2 near the Route 581 overpass, about 60 kilometers north of Calgary.
A white truck has cut off a sport utility vehicle (SUV) before braking aggressively. The SUV driver tried to avoid hitting the truck, but his vehicle went into the ditch before crashing into a fence.
A child of under 5 was ejected from the vehicle and is in critical condition in hospital. The other four occupants of the vehicle were seriously injured and are hospitalized.
The truck involved in the incident left the scene before police arrived.
