Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff of the US Army, General Mark Milley, said that it would be very difficult to force the Russians out of the occupied territories of Ukraine by military means this year. He said this after a meeting of the Ukrainian Contact Support Group at the German Ramstein air base.
«It will be extremely difficult to drive Russian forces out of Ukraine during this year through military action. I'm not saying it's impossible or it won't happen, but it's extremely difficult. We need to stabilize the front and I think it will depend on training, on the delivery of equipment and I think that Ukraine can conduct offensive operations at the tactical and strategic level», — said Milli.
According to him, from a military point of view, conditions are now very difficult, and the front line has stretched over a vast territory.
« the front goes from Kharkov to Kherson and it is more or less static, with the exception of Soledar, Bakhmut. This is a huge territory and there are many Russian forces that have occupied Ukraine»,— Millie said.
