
Granting Ukraine the status of an EU candidate was supported by all 27 countries of the bloc
During the voting for granting Ukraine the status of a candidate for joining the European Union, Ukraine was supported by all 27 countries block. No country voted against. The day before, the European Parliament voted for a resolution on granting Ukraine and Moldova candidate status for EU membership. Then the decision was adopted by the provision, but 45 MEPs voted against it. In total, the document was supported by 529 MEPs out of 588 present. Questionnaire for obtaining the status of a candidate for EU membership was handed over to Ukraine by European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen during her visit to Kyiv in early April. Now, having received the desired status, negotiations on Ukraine's accession to the EU should begin. Ukraine will receive a plan for joining the bloc – specific recommendations will be written in the roadmap. Their implementation and evaluation can take up to a year.
