Violence army in Laval: Laval police arrest a member of street gang

Jemsley Olivier Printemps Sanon is part of the Laval street gang Flamehead Boys.

The Laval Police Department announced the arrest of a street gang member in connection with an attempted murder that occurred last May.

Jemsley Olivier Printemps Sanon, 25, is charged with attempted murder, discharge of a firearm with particular intent and possession of a restricted firearm.

Described as an active member of the Laval street gang Flamehead Boys, the man was transported to the Sorel-Tracy detention center, where he is incarcerated pending trial in another case.

The alleged facts date back to May 9. A group of three people who were on the grounds of a low-rent housing complex in the Chomedey sector had been targeted by a dozen shots. A 15-year-old boy was among those targeted.

Fortunately, no one was injured in the incident.

This event s& #x27;was, however, part of a series of three shootings in as many days in Laval. One person died and two were injured in those other shootings, which are still under separate investigation.

These shootings had sown concern among the local population and led to a citizen mobilization.

Jean François Roussel, of the Laval Police Department, believes that this arrest sends a strong message and a clear message to street gangs.

“We are on the ground, we put a lot of pressure on people affiliated with gangs of street […]. We are not going to leave an inch of ground to these people and we are going to ensure the safety of Laval residents. »

Jean François Roussel, Deputy Director of Investigations, Laval Police Department

These are three events that took place in a very short period of time and which struck Laval's imagination. That's why it's important for us to come out publicly and announce this arrest, he added in an interview on ICI RDI.

Mr. Printemps Sanon will remain in detention until his appearance.
