Russian President Vladimir Putin postponed the attack on Ukraine three times, the last time in mid-February. General Vadim Skibitsky, spokesman for the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense, spoke about this in an interview with BILD.
According to him, Putin discussed the date of the invasion several times with Chief of the General Staff Valery Gerasimov and Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu.
< p>“The FSB insisted on the offensive, they were sure that they were sufficiently prepared for the invasion. They invested huge resources and pushed Gerasimov to attack,” Skibitsky said.
The representative of the Main Intelligence Directorate noted that in the end Gerasimov came under pressure and approved the operation, but underestimated the situation.
«The fact that the Russian units were provided with food, ammunition and fuel for only three days shows how badly they miscalculated», — added Skibitsky.
He also recalled that as a result of this miscalculation, all the first goals of the Russian Federation failed, they could not cordon Kyiv, and also could not take Sumy, Chernihiv or Kharkov.
