The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) on the morning of November 20 recorded more than ten explosions in the ZNPP area. This was reported by the press service of the IAEA.
«IAEA experts at the ZNPP reported to the agency headquarters that shelling had resumed near and on the territory Europe's largest nuclear power plant, more than a dozen explosions were heard in the morning local time for a short period of time. The IAEA team could also see some of the explosions from their windows», — said in the message.
It notes that some buildings, systems and equipment were damaged at the ZNPP site, but none of them is yet critical for nuclear safety and protection. There were also no reports of casualties.
It is specified that the IAEA experts are in close contact with the plant management and will continue to assess the situation and report on it.
The agency added that IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi urged the Ukrainian and Russian sides to agree and put into effect a nuclear safety zone around the ZNPP as soon as possible.
