How Deadline reported, has now also Antonio Banderas for an engagement in the next Indiana Jones film. Details about the role of the Spanish actor, who was nominated for an Oscar for the first time in his long career last year (Sorrow and glory), are not yet known.
Although the shooting of the as yet nameless fifth part of the film series began at Pinewood Studios and other locations in Great Britain in early June, and lead actor Harrison Ford has already sustained an injury, there is still no information about the plot of the film.
While it is clear that Ford will put on the iconic hat of adventure-loving archeology professor Indiana Jones again, there are still no details as to which roles Phoebe Waller-Bridge (Solo: A Star Wars Story), Mads Mikkelsen (Doctor Strange), Thomas Kretschmann (The boat), Boyd Holbrook (Predator – Upgrade), Shaunette Renée Wilson (Black Panther) and Toby Jones (Jurassic World: The Fallen Kingdom) will play in the film.
Filmmaker James Mangold (Logan – The Wolverine) takes over the directing position from Indiana Jones long-term director Steven Spielberg, who as executive producer played a key role in the development of the film. Also there is composer John Williams, who has been responsible for the background music in the Indiana Jones films for 40 years.
In German-speaking cinemas Indiana Jones 5 from On display on July 28, 2022.
