ISW: Failures near Vuhledar indicate the low level of training of mobilized Russians
Analysts at the Institute for the Study of War (ISW) believe that the unsuccessful attempt to attack Vuhledar in the Donetsk region indicates poor systemic preparation of the mobilized Russians. This is reported in the ISW report.
The institute noted that the recent footage of the unsuccessful Russian assault near Ugledar became the last point of neuralgia in the Russian information space.
«Bloggers seized on these shots to start criticizing the Russian military leadership. Russian bloggers claim that the commanders who led the 155th Naval Infantry Brigade's attacks on Pavlovka in November 2022 are now responsible for the assault on Ugledar. They say commanders continue to make the same costly mistakes. One Russian blogger said that the commander of the Eastern Group of Forces, Lieutenant General Rustam Muradov, was responsible for Russian tactical failures around Vugledar,” the ISW report says.
However, institute analysts are confident that «Russian troops are using highly dysfunctional tactics that indicate that the 155th Marine Brigade is more likely to consist of poorly trained mobilized than about poor command».
«Russian bloggers probably blamed Russian commanders to downplay the fact that poor systemic training of mobilized Russians is likely to continue to lead to similar tactical failures throughout Ukraine in the future. Probably, bloggers regularly accuse commanders of responsibility for tactical failures in order to shift the overall responsibility for military failures in Ukraine from the Russian armed forces as an institution to individuals», the ISW suggested.
