ISW: Occupants probably captured Soledar

Russian the occupying troops probably captured the city of Soledar in the Donetsk region. This is reported by the American Institute for the Study of War.

According to analysts, the occupiers control most, if not the entire territory of Soledar, and they, apparently, managed to oust Ukrainian troops from the western outskirts of the city.

At the same time, the ISW emphasized that the possible capture of Soledar is not an operationally important development of the situation and it hardly portends the imminent encirclement of Bakhmut. So, the capture of Soledar – a settlement with an area of u200bu200babout 14.2 square meters. km would prevent Russian forces from gaining control of critical Ukrainian ground lines of communication with Bakhmut and put them in a better position to encircle the city in the short term.

«Russian forces may try maintain a high rate of attacks in the Bakhmut area, but these efforts will not lead to operationally significant results, since they have lost combat strength and accumulated exhaustion», the ISW added.

In turn DeepState analysts note that judging by a number of geolocations, Ukrainian forces have left the main part of Soledar, the western outskirts of the city remain in question. An analysis of enemy videos, where most of them are killed in battles and a small number of prisoners, indicates that there was no grandiose encirclement of the Armed Forces of Ukraine declared by the occupiers.

In addition, it was noted that the situation in Bakhmut is tense. The enemy breaks through to the south of the private sector, as well as through the Bakhmut forest. The invaders managed to take control of part of the dachas in the north of the city near Podgorodny. The fighting in Kleschievka continues, the result is unknown.
