ISW: Russia failed to prepare mobilized for offensive in Donbas
< p> The Russian military failed to prepare their mobilized personnel for an offensive in the Donbass. This is stated in the summary of the Institute for the Study of War (ISW).
As noted, the Russian offensive operations in the Donetsk region, except for the Bakhmut direction, and along the Svatovo-Kremennaya line, led to a slight advance that has no operational significance.< /p>
According to ISW analysts, Russian troops are using more traditional mechanized maneuver tactics there, using regular, rather than elite, motorized rifle units, marines and tanks.
All observed so far the units were taken out of combat capability in the early stages of the war and were probably restored thanks to the mobilized personnel, experts of the Institute concluded.
«The Russian military, apparently, was unable to prepare their mobilized personnel to conduct effective mechanized offensive operations in a short period of time from the moment they were called up,” the ISW noted.
A The analysts added that a lack of adequate vehicles, ammunition and other materiel would likely contribute to the ineffectiveness of Russian mechanized maneuver tactics.
- NSDC Secretary Alexei Danilov said the Russians had already launched a “big offensive” but have big problems with it.
