Kharchyshyn and Mikhailyuta discussed support for Ukrainian authors with members of the European Parliament

Druha Rika frontman Valery Kharchyshyn met in Brussels with representatives of the Presidency of the EU Council, the European Parliament and European Commission. The artist's visit to Belgium took place as part of the events organized by the partners of the public organization “Ukrainian Agency for Copyright and Related Rights” (“UAACP”), where they discussed the issue of supporting Ukrainian culture as part of the European one.

Together with the Director of International Cooperation and Licensing of the NGO “UAASP” Lyudmila Tsymbal, the artist met with the cultural attache of the current French Presidency of the EU Council and the next Czech Presidency, and also talked with members of the European Parliament. The parties discussed the issue of assistance to Ukrainian culture through existing funding programs. Kharchishin also called for maximum blocking of Russian cultural initiatives.

– In the European Parliament and the European Commission we were met very friendly, with a sincere desire to help us in this difficult time for the country, to support Ukrainian culture. The very fact that the members of the EP met Ukrainian authors as full-fledged representatives of the creative European community and discussed the tools to support Ukrainian culture as part of the European one is a very important event. We hope that on August 24, with a big concert of Ukrainian music in the capital of the EU, in Brussels, we will mark the beginning of the coexistence of Ukrainian culture as a part of equals among equals and free among the free, – said Valery Kharchyshyn, General Director of the organization.

In turn, a member of the Supervisory Board of the NGO “UAASP”, the frontman of “TNMK” Oleg “Fagot” Mikhailyuta, together with his colleagues from the Polish author organization ZAiKS, visited the main office of the International Confederation of Societies of Authors and Composers CISAC in France, uniting 228 societies from 119 countries of the world . The artist also met with representatives of the French partner organization in Paris, where he discussed the state of the creative sector in Ukraine and the issue of cooperation between artists from Ukraine and colleagues from France.

– Culture is soft power. Russia knows this and is trying to dominate Ukraine through the imposition of its culture. But she will never succeed. The Ukrainian people and Ukrainian creators are stronger than ever. With your help, we will win, – Oleg Mikhailyuta shared.

Earlier, Kharchishin complained about the dishonest, in his opinion, accreditation of an organization that would protect copyrights in the music market and receive royalties for the use of compositions in Ukraine. The artist said that he and the team of the NGO “UAASP” organization also submitted an application for consideration to the Ministry of Economy of Ukraine, but it was rejected.
