Macron, Scholz and Draghi arrived in Ukraine

French President Emmanuel Macron, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz and Italian Prime Minister Mario Draghi arrived in Ukraine. This was announced in his telegram channel by Advisor to the Minister of Internal Affairs Anton Gerashchenko.

The fact that the leaders of the three countries will visit our country was reported at the beginning of the week. At the same time, it was noted that the visit would take place before the meeting of the EU Council, the G7 in Germany and the NATO summit.

It is expected that the arrivals will meet with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, which will demonstrate “a powerful demonstration of Western solidarity with Ukraine” .

Since the country leaders arrived ahead of the presentation of the European Commission's assessment of whether Ukraine should be granted candidate status for membership, experts believe that the European Commission is likely to announce that the country has received the status. But on the condition that she will carry out a series of reforms aimed at strengthening the rule of law and fighting corruption.

This is Olaf Scholz's first visit to Ukraine since the start of the war in Ukraine. According to CNN sources, Macron used to want to visit Kyiv after the issue of granting Ukraine the status of a candidate for EU membership is resolved.
