
Macron, Scholz and Draghi in Kyiv: air raid alert throughout Ukraine
The leaders of the three largest EU countries did not have time to arrive in Kyiv, as in Ukraine announced a massive air raid. French President Emmanuel Macron, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz and Italian Prime Minister Mario Draghi heard the siren a few minutes after talking to reporters. Meanwhile, it became known that the leaders of France, Germany and Italy settled in the InterContinental Hotel. The leaders of the countries will meet with President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky, and also visit Irpen, which was under enemy occupation for almost a month. According to Macron, their visit is “a message of European unity, support, addressed to all Ukrainians.”
This is the first visit of Scholz, Macron and Draghi to Ukraine since the beginning of the war. According to CNN sources, Macron previously wanted to visit Kyiv after the issue of granting Ukraine candidate status for EU accession is resolved.
