The agreement between Ukraine and the United States on the non-use of American weapons for strikes on Russian territory applies only to HIMARS rocket artillery systems, and not to all types of weapons supplied. This was stated by Ukrainian Ambassador to the United States Oksana Markarova in an interview with «European Pravda«.
Markarova commented on Defense Minister Oleksiy Reznikov's statement about Ukraine's commitment not to use Western weapons for strikes on Russian territory. When asked if the restriction only applies to HIMARS systems, or in general to all American weapons, Markarova said that «this applies to HIMARS».
In August, Reznikov said that Ukraine had committed to not to use Western weapons on the territory of Russia, but there are no such restrictions regarding the temporarily occupied Crimea.
Markarova also confirmed that the United States did not set any restrictions for Ukrainian strikes using American weapons on the territory of Crimea.
- The Pentagon reported that Ukraine would receive 18 HIMARS, but within a few years.
