Ships of the Black Sea Fleet of the Russian Federation began to go to sea only accompanied by boats after the drone attack on the bay of Sevastopol on October 29. This is reported by The Telegraph with reference to independent military expert H. I. Sutton.

“The Russians have completely changed their defensive positions in Sevastopol and Novorossiysk. They enlarged the floating booms in the bay and changed procedures to close them much faster. Every warship, even a powerful warship leaving Sevastopol, is now escorted by fast ships,” the expert noted.

The drone attacks were one of the factors that allowed the Ukrainian side to restrict the movement of Russian ships controlled by Russia harbors and secure shipping routes from Odessa, writes The Telegraph.

The publication also published a frame from the video, which allegedly depicts a fire on the frigate “Admiral Makarov”. Independent analysts claim that during the attack on Sevastopol, the frigate was seriously damaged, but did not sink.

In addition, the newspaper gives a general scheme and characteristics of sea drones used by Kyiv . A visual inspection of the available images of the appearance of the drone revealed only one element of military use used in the design of the drone – this is a detonator, most likely taken from the Soviet FAB-500 aerial bomb, the newspaper writes.

According to The Telegraph, such drones can carry up to 200 kg of cargo, reaching speeds of up to 80 km/h. One of the ways they can navigate is the Starlink terminal, the newspaper notes.

  • On October 29, Russian ships were attacked by drones in the Sevastopol Bay.
  • The Russian Ministry of Defense accused the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the British military of attack on the Black Sea Fleet.
