Media: Russia seizes Western weapons in Ukraine and transfers them to Iran
Russia seized some of the US and NATO-provided weapons and equipment left on the battlefield in Ukraine and sent it to Iran. This was reported by CNN, citing four sources.
According to sources, over the past year, Western officials have witnessed several cases of seizure of smaller portable weapons by Russian troops, including Javelin anti-tank systems and Stinger anti-aircraft systems.
The Russian Federation sent the seized weapons to Iran for further analysis. Thus, Iran is trying to create its own versions of Western weapons.
Sources say that according to Russia, the continuation of the supply of captured Western weapons to Iran will stimulate Tehran to support Russia's war against Ukraine.
In its U.S. officials do not believe the problem is widespread or systematic, especially since the Ukrainian military has been reporting to the Pentagon any loss of U.S. equipment since the beginning of the invasion.
