NATO Secretary General: Russia's offensive in Donbas has stalled
A two-day unofficial meeting of NATO foreign ministers has ended in Berlin. As a result, Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said that Russia is not achieving its strategic goals in Ukraine. According to him, after the Russian troops failed to take Kyiv, they are retreating from Kharkov, and their offensive in the Donbass has stalled. – President Putin wants the defeat of Ukraine, the defeat of NATO and the division of Europe and North America. But Ukraine stands, NATO is stronger than ever. Europe and North America are firmly united. Ukraine can win this war,” he said. At the same time, Stoltenberg noted that the allies should continue to increase military assistance to Ukraine. The NATO Secretary General added that the ministers discussed the long-term consequences of Russia's war against Ukraine and the further strengthening of NATO's defense. At the informal meeting, they also talked about Sweden and Finland. Jens Stoltenberg said they are NATO's closest partners and if countries decide to apply for membership it will be “historic”. – Their membership in NATO will increase our common security, demonstrate that the doors of NATO are open and that aggression does not pay off, – said the Secretary General. The ministers also discussed the NATO summit, which will be held on 28 -30 June in Madrid. It may decide to increase support for global partners, adopt the next strategic vision and plan for adapting to a more dangerous and competitive environment.
