Frequent personnel changes in the leadership of the Russian occupation troops indicate problems in command and control of Russian troops. This was stated by the Deputy Chief of the Main Operational Directorate of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Brigadier General Aleksey Gromov, at a briefing on January 12.
«We monitor the fact that personnel changes periodically occur in the leadership of the armed forces of the occupying country. If everything was fine with them, then personnel changes with such frequency would not take place», — he said.
According to Gromov, recent personnel changes indicate that there is a need for their ranks to combine command and control of troops. «Not everything works out the way they want», he added.
- On January 11, Chief of the Russian General Staff Valery Gerasimov was appointed the new commander of the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Surovikin is now his deputy.
- The ISW believes that Surovikin's demotion is a blow to Prigozhin and the security forces.
