Queen Elizabeth II celebrates her platinum jubilee – 70th anniversary of her reign on the British throne . On this occasion, a four-day weekend has been announced in the UK, which will be marked by celebrations and mass celebrations.

From 10 am in London, the traditional ceremony of the removal of the banner by the British army began, in which about one and a half thousand soldiers and officers, as well as 350 horses, took part, writes the BBC.

The ceremony was attended by all members of the royal family: the Dukes of Cambridge Kate Middleton and Prince William, the heir to the throne Prince Charles with his wife Camilla and other members of the royal dynasty.

One of the first to arrive at Buckingham Palace was the Duchess of Cambridge and Cornwall, Princes George and Louis, and Princess Charlotte. The family took a seat by the balcony to watch the RAF in flight. Princes Charles and William, as well as the monarch's daughter Princess Anne, were among the participants in the parade – the Welsh Guards on horseback.

The Duchess of Cornwall Camilla appeared at the celebration in a pale blue suit with a matching hat, and Kate Middleton chose a white coat from Alexander McQueen and a white and blue headpiece from Philip Treacy for the celebration. In a similar outfit, Princess Diana visited Dubai in 1989. The Duchess completed the look with sapphire diamond earrings. The jewels were a wedding gift to the late Princess Diana from Crown Prince Fahd of Saudi Arabia. Before the wedding, Prince William presented family jewelry to Kate, who updated the design for herself.

The Dukes of Sussex Meghan Markle and Prince Harry also flew from the United States on the occasion of the celebration. However, the family did not come out to the public.

Queen Elizabeth II herself appeared on the balcony of Buckingham Palace in a pastel blue outfit, a matching hat and white gloves. Throughout the ceremony, Her Majesty did not let go of her cane. On the eve of the media wrote that the monarch for the first time missed the opening session of the British Parliament due to health and mobility problems – it is difficult for her to move around.

The official ceremony ended with an air show, which was attended by about 70 aircraft of the Royal Air Force. In honor of the monarch's platinum jubilee, planes flew over Buckingham Palace, lining up the number “70” in the sky and releasing colors in the colors of the British flag.
