Reznikov confirmed the arrival of HIMARS: The summer will be hot for the Russians, for some - the last

The Minister of Defense of Ukraine confirmed the delivery of HIMARS multiple launch rocket systems (MLRS). Oleksiy Reznikov said that this summer will be hot for Russians, and for some – the last.

– HIMARS arrived in Ukraine. Thanks to my American colleague and friend Secretary of Defense Lloyd J. Austin III for these powerful tools! Summer will be hot for the Russian occupiers. And the last one for some of them,” he tweeted on Thursday afternoon, June 23.

On June 22, the press service of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine noted in one of their tweets that “we are still waiting for HIMARS and M270!”. On June 20, Ukrainian media reported, citing their intelligence sources, that the military could for the first time attack the enemy with American HIMARS multiple rocket launchers when hitting Zmeiny Island.

U.S. President Joseph Biden officially announced on June 1 that the new package military aid for Ukraine will include HIMARS. Back in April, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky named HIMARS on the list of weapons necessary for victory.

The United States handed over HIMARS on the condition that the MLRS would not hit Russia. The range of the systems was limited to 80 kilometers with the maximum possible 300 km. According to media reports, the first batch consisted of four installations. The howitzers that the United States provided earlier can fire at a distance of about 30 km.

HIMARS is an American rocket artillery system with increased mobility on a wheeled chassis. The system was developed in the late 90s, it is produced by one of the divisions of Lockheed Martin. HIMARS have been used in Afghanistan, Syria and Iraq.
