Russia has dramatically increased shelling of Ukraine with cruise missiles and Iranian kamikaze drones. Oleksiy Gromov, Deputy Chief of the Main Operational Directorate of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, stated this during a briefing.
According to him, since October 10, the enemy has fired 154 missiles on the territory of Ukraine – more than seven times compared to the first decade of the month (it was 21 rockets fired). Air-launched cruise missiles have become the main type of missile armament of the Russians.
«At the same time, the use of these missiles was not noted at all in the previous period. The number of missiles used by 83 units exceeded the number of missiles of these types used during the four months of June, July, August and September (only 43 missiles), Gromov noted.
He added that 29% of those used were sea-based cruise missiles of the «Caliber» type, which were also not used during the previous period. The enemy also increased the intensity of the use of ground-based cruise missiles – eight (in the previous period – one)».
Since October 10, the invaders launched 176 kamikaze drones across Ukraine. Of the drones used by the enemy over the past week, 65 drones were likely aimed at Kyiv and the region. Almost half of them – 27 units flying from Belarus.
Among other things, Gromov stressed that the effectiveness of Ukrainian air defense remains at a high level. Thus, it was possible to destroy 81 enemy missiles, which is 64% of their total number launched in Ukraine.
