Maia Sandu arrived for a meeting with Vladimir Zelensky. The video of the beginning of the negotiations in Kyiv was published on his Facebook page by the President of Ukraine.

– We have not only a common border with Moldova, but also values ​​and aspirations. Today I meet President Maia Sandu! Your solidarity with our country and people is very important,” he wrote.

The leaders communicated in English, although both presidents speak Russian.

At the beginning of the visit to Ukraine, the President of Moldova visited the cities of the Kyiv region most affected by Russian aggression – Borodianka, Irpen and Bucha.

– Today I am in Ukraine at the invitation of President Volodymyr Zelensky. We started our visit by going to several cities in the Kyiv region, which were destroyed in the first weeks of the war. I saw with my own eyes houses burned to the ground, apartment buildings destroyed by rockets, hospitals, shops and kindergartens destroyed by Russian artillery in Borodyanka and Irpin. I also saw the site of mass graves in Bucha, where dozens of people who were shot during the occupation of this city by the Russian army were buried. This is a tragedy that is hard to put into words,” Sandu wrote on her Facebook page.

She noted that Moldova condemns the military aggression of Russia against Ukraine on the first day.

“We call on the international community to do everything possible to restore peace, investigate and punish the unjustified crimes committed in this conflict. We stand together with the brave Ukrainian people fighting for their freedom and the freedom of Europe. The future of Ukraine is in the free world, in a big European family,” the President added.

Maia Sandu was accompanied by Head of the Kyiv Regional Military Association Oleksiy Kuleba and Deputy Foreign Minister Emine Dzhaparova. Sandu and Dzhaparova also visited the exhibition “Ukraine – crucifixion”, exhibited in Kyiv at the National Museum of the History of Ukraine in World War II.

– The exhibition shows the devastation that Ukrainians experienced because of Russian atrocities, and the suffering that exposed every day,” Dzhaparova said on her Twitter.
