Saskatchewan RCMP cancel alert on dangerous man

A Saskatchewan police officer in the village of Langham amid an alert for a gunman.

The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) in Saskatchewan has canceled an alert issued Friday morning in the Langham area, 38 kilometers northwest of Saskatoon, about a dangerous man involved in a shooting.

An earlier version of this text incorrectly stated that Langham is northeast of Saskatoon. However, the city is located northwest of the City of Bridges.

This incident resulted in the death of one person.

The RCMP announces that the public is no longer at risk in connection with this matter.

Justin Heimbecker had been identified as the main suspect in this investigation.

Justin Heimbecker is 1.92m tall and has brown eyes.

RCMP launched the alert for Langham around 7:40 a.m. Friday morning, and a description of the suspect was given around 9 a.m.

Police officers had also set up barricades in this area, and residents were asked to stay at home.
