Scholz said that Germany is developing a draft Marshall Plan for Ukraine
One of the issues discussed by the leaders of the G7 countries at the upcoming summit in Germany will be project of the “prospective Marshall Plan for Ukraine”. According to AP News, this was stated by German Chancellor Olaf Scholz. The German politician said he hopes for a “united front of long-term support for Ukraine.” He also told his parliament that the restoration of Ukraine would be the task of several generations of Europeans. At the same time, billions of dollars would be needed to finance the restoration of Ukraine over many years. Therefore, a forward plan can only work if European countries, other major donors and international organizations work together. Scholz is convinced that the structure of such a recovery plan is really crucial: how it will be coordinated internationally how investment priorities will be determined, etc. The German Chancellor also said that, together with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, he intends to convene a conference of experts on the restoration of Ukraine under the auspices of the German G7 Presidency. Earlier, Scholz promised that Ukraine would receive heavy weapons from Berlin in a timely manner.
