Severe thunderstorms over southern Quebec
A car got stuck in a flood in the area of the Acadie interchange , in Montreal.
Several regions of southern and central Quebec were affected by violent thunderstorms, accompanied by large hail and strong gusts. On Friday, around 8 a.m., some 6,700 Hydro-Québec subscribers were without electricity.
The regions most affected are the Laurentians, where more than 2,919 customers Hydro-Quebec are without electricity, and Montérégie, where 1,622 homes are still without power the day after the storm.
At the height of the storm, some 35,000 Hydro-Quebec subscribers were without electricity.
Severe thunderstorms caused flash flooding in Montreal. A sewer cover even popped, letting water out like a geyser.
The Société de transport de Montréal has interrupted metro service on the blue line, between Snowdon and Saint-Michel, due to water infiltration. The cars did not start running again until around 8:20 p.m.
At Montreal-Trudeau airport, dozens of flights were delayed or even canceled.

Environment Canada issued severe thunderstorm warnings for Montreal, Laval and Montérégie. Alerts were also in effect for Estrie and Beauce.

Severe thunderstorm watches were announced around 7:30 p.m. for most parts of southern Quebec.
Environment Canada has advised residents of areas where the alerts were issued to stay indoors and stay away from exterior walls.
